We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drop were not there, the ocean would be missing something!

kathy's bag Ventures Outside the Country

I'm sure Kathy has enjoyed her travels around the world on so many shoulders. You can now find kathy's bag in 17 states and 4 countries.

Kathy's godchild, Alicia, recently ran a marathon in Lima Peru and she was happy to have her
kathy's bag
along for moral support.

Erin Raises Over $500 for American Cancer Society

On Mother's Day weekend Erin ran her first 5K, the Sole Burner 5K run/walk sponsored by the American Cancer Society.  Here is what she had to say about the experience: "My mom was my true inspiration while I was running. I wanted to walk so bad. I just kept telling myself that my mom didn’t give up and she kept going when she wasn’t feeling the greatest. Some of my friends gave me an angel necklace after she passed. I wore the necklace at the race and held it when I felt like I wanted to stop running. It was a great feeling knowing that I finished the race for her."
We are so very proud of YOU, Erin, and know your mom is too.  I'm sure she was guiding every step you took.

Kathy's mom receives a kathy's bag for Mother's Day

Mother's Day can be bitter-sweet.  This was a tough day for our mom.  It is still hard for her understand why God choose to take her precious daughter home at such a young age.  But as you can see, she was very happy to receive a kathy's bag and will wear it with pride on her shoulder.

We remember one Amazing Mom

These two beautiful children were as dedicated to their mother as their mother was to them.  She will be greatly missed on this Mother's Day but not forgotten.

Here are the words her son Brian used to describe his mother in her eulogy:  “A person and a mother that most people can’t find words to describe.  Some say the only way to describe her is to say Kathy Rivet but the closest I can think of is AMAZING and SELFLESS.”

kathy's bag finds her way to New York City

Kathy and several of her closest friends were planning a trip to New York City for her 60th birthday in September.  That trip for Kathy never happened.   However last week, Erin, Kathy's daughter, took that trip to New York City for the both of them. There is no doubt in my mind that Kathy was guiding Erin through the Big Apple and enjoying every moment with her.  You will notice the bag on Erin's shoulder--yes, a kathy's bag.

Every time a kathy's bag is on a shoulder, Kathy is smiling from Heaven.  She was doing a lot of smiling that week in New York City.

Bloomsday

Happy Sunday, everyone! Today is Bloomsday in Spokane, a 7.46 mile race that draws 50,000 runners to our city. A kathy's bag made its debut at the event, and I hope to see more around town in the near future.

My goal is to collect photos and stories about kathy's bags as they travel around the world. I plan to post a map of all the sites on this blog, so be sure and let me know where you take your kathy's bag.
Here's the original pattern, cut out of a newspaper ad. It's still serving me well. I have been making new bags in anticipation of the website, and my sewing room is filled with fabric.
Hope you had a wonderful May Day, wherever you are. Thanks again for checking out the latest news on kathy's bag.
